InterContinental Energy Enters Key Project Agreements for Green Energy Oman Project

Muscat – 5 June 2023 – InterContinental Energy, a company committed to delivering green hydrogen at scale, today announced its entry, as part of the consortium of the Green Energy Oman (“GEO”) project, into key project agreements with Hydrogen Oman SPC (“Hydrom”).  The project agreements grant the right for the GEO project to develop facilities for the production of green hydrogen and its derivatives in the Al Wusta region of the Sultanate of Oman.

The GEO project includes affiliates of Shell plc, OQ Alternative Energy, Kuwait Investment Authority, InterContinental Energy, and GWWT.

The first phase of development for the GEO project is expected to produce 150 KTPA of green hydrogen from 4 GW of installed renewable energy capacity, with the ambition to later expand to 25 GW of renewable energy capacity over subsequent phases.

Tony Nieman, Head of the Middle East at InterContinental Energy, said: “InterContinental Energy is pleased with the new milestone achieved for Green Energy Oman project.  We appreciate the commitment of Hydrom and our partners, and we look forward to developing the project to accelerate the energy transition.”
