Alex Tancock

CEO and Chairman of the Board

Alex Tancock is the CEO and Chairman of the Board of InterContinental Energy.  An experienced, respected and trusted industry leader, he is responsible for steering the business and leading the multi-disciplinary team in delivering its portfolio of large-scale green energy hubs. 

 

Alex has been a pioneer in the global renewables industry over the last 25 years.  Previously, he was involved in the development, construction, and operation of both onshore and offshore renewable energy projects in EMEA and Asia Pacific. 

 

Alex holds a B.Sc. in Theoretical Physics from Imperial College, a Diploma in Financial Management from the ACCA, and qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst with the CFA Institute.  

Tony Nieman

Head of Middle East

Tony Nieman is the Head of Middle East at InterContinental Energy.  He is responsible for leading the activities and partnerships in the Middle East to deliver the company’s green energy hubs as a trusted partner in the region. 

 

Tony brings over 30 years of experience spanning technical and commercial positions in the energy industry, which includes the establishment, implementation, and governance of joint ventures for major projects in the Middle East.  Previously, Tony spent 27 years at Shell and of which 19 years were based in the Middle East. 

 

Tony holds an MSc in Mining Engineering from Delft University, Netherlands and an MBA from Warwick University, United Kingdom. He is also an accredited Chartered European Engineer. 

Isaac Hinton

Head of Australia

Isaac Hinton is the Head of Australia at InterContinental Energy.  He oversees the company’s Australian activities and partnerships to support the long-term growth strategy and project implementation.  This currently includes serving as Chair for the consortia developing the Western Green Energy Hub and the Australian Renewable Energy Hub.  

 

Isaac has nearly 20 years of experience in the energy and resources industries.  Previously, he worked at BHP for more than 10 years in various global leadership roles in sales, marketing, procurement, and was Chief of Staff to the President Australia. 

 

Isaac holds a Master of Commerce in Applied Finance and a Bachelor of Business Economics, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  

Richard D Colwill

Head of Engineering and Innovation

Richard Colwill is the Head of Engineering and Innovation at InterContinental Energy.   He leads a world-class engineering team in developing innovative strategies for green hydrogen technology and implements them through collaboration with project partners.  

 

Richard brings more than 30 years of experience in engineering and risk management with a specialization in marine planning, infrastructure, and logistics.  Previously, Richard was Managing Director of Critical Infrastructure in Asia Pacific at BMT Group, an international design, engineering, science and risk management leader.  

  

Richard holds a B.Eng & M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from University of Liverpool and a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Manchester. 

Matthew Pieterse

General Counsel

Matthew Pieterse is the General Counsel at InterContinental Energy.  He oversees the company’s legal activities across a diverse range of strategic and corporate matters. 

 

Previously, Matthew worked for TotalEnergies in the M&A and Carbon Neutrality team, acting as lead counsel for projects across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia Pacific.  He has held positions responsible for the management of joint ventures and relationships with strategic stakeholders, including the sale of a NYSE-listed energy company to ExxonMobil in a multi-billion dollar transaction. 

 

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney, Australia. 

Isabelle Ireland

Head of Corporate Operations

Isabelle Ireland is the Head of Corporate Operations at InterContinental Energy.   She is responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day corporate operations and her area of coverage extends to risk management, compliance, ESG (environmental, social and governance) and Work Health Safety.  

 

Previously, Isabelle worked at Macquarie Group where she held roles in operational risk and governance for the energy and infrastructure business, and in the legal team of the commodities and global markets group.   

 

Isabelle is a solicitor of England and Wales.  She also holds a B.A. in Spanish and Portuguese from the University of Nottingham.  She has completed a business sustainability management course at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. 

Valery Tubbax

Chief Financial Officer

Valery Tubbax is the Chief Financial Officer of InterContinental Energy.  He oversees the company’s financial matters including functions related to financing, investment, and accounting.  

 

Valery brings to the role more than 20 years of experience in project and acquisition finance where he has worked in the renewables, power, utilities, and infrastructure sectors across Asia and the Middle East. Previously, Valery held senior positions at SMBC where he was the Head of Advisory for Asia Pacific in Singapore, and subsequently as Head of International Project finance in Tokyo. 

 

Valery holds a Master’s Degree in Management and Finance from Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC Paris) and studied Political Sciences at the University of Paris La Sorbonne. 

Pierre Pretorius

Head of Project Delivery and Oversight

Pierre Pretorius is the Head of Project Delivery and Oversight at InterContinental Energy.  He is responsible for managing the company’s project development and delivery with partners. 

 

Pierre has more than 25 years of experience in project delivery and risk management for the energy and infrastructure industries. Previously, Pierre worked at Vestas for 11 years where he was the Head of Global EPC Execution and subsequently as Vice President of Construction in Asia Pacific with profitability responsibilities. 

 

Pierre holds a B.Sc in Mathematics and Computer Sciences from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, and an MBA from the University of Cape Town. 

Vinod Patel

Downstream Director

Vinod Patel is the Downstream Director at InterContinental Energy. Working together with partners, he is responsible for leading Downstream engineering across the project lifecycle for the company’s portfolio of projects. 

 

Vinod has over 35 years of experience in operational management, process engineering, and project development. He was in the pioneering Yara team that worked on the renewable-based hydrogen/ammonia project at Australia’s Pilbara facility, where he conducted extensive feasibility studies with Engie on hydrogen integration with the existing ammonia facility. 

 

Vinod holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from MS University of Baroda and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Dr Rajendra Prasad Institution of Management in India. He has attained the Leading Economic Development Certificate from the Kennedy School at Harvard University.  

Warner Priest

Midstream Director

Warner Priest is the Midstream Director at InterContinental Energy. Working together with partners, he is responsible for leading Midstream engineering across the project lifecycle for the company’s portfolio of projects. 

 

Warner has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector. Previously, he worked for Siemens in engineering, business development, and business unit management. With deep knowledge in power transmission, distribution systems and microgrids, he helped developed the first large scale renewable hydrogen solution in South Australia, and has become an authoritative voice on integrated hydrogen solutions value-chain.  

 

Warner holds a National Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Technikon of Natal, a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Management from Macquarie University, and a Certificate from the Harvard Kennedy School on Leading Economic Growth. 

Audrey Lim

Deputy General Counsel

Audrey Lim is the Deputy General Counsel at InterContinental Energy.  She is responsible for legal matters for the InterContinental Energy group. 

 

Previously, Audrey worked at the international law firms White & Case and Baker & McKenzie where she acted for governments, sponsors, and lenders in the development and financing of major energy and infrastructure projects across various jurisdictions. 

 

Audrey holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Laws (Distinction) from University College London.  She was called to the Singapore and New York bar, and was admitted to the roll of solicitors in England and Wales. 

Jabel Tay

Finance Director

Jabel Tay is the Finance Director at InterContinental Energy.  He is responsible for working on company’s financial matters and assisting the CFO in executing financial strategy, capital management and project finance. 

 

Previously, Jabel was Senior Vice President at Korea Development Bank where he was responsible for the execution of project finance transactions.  He has also worked in SMBC for 7 years where he was responsible for project finance advisory and lending transactions, focusing on large scale power and energy projects. 

 

Jabel holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the National University of Singapore. 

Weelim Bay

Director of Human Capital

Weelim Bay is the Director of Human Capital at InterContinental Energy.  She is responsible for strategizing and executing a global human capital framework that aligns with the organizational principles and business goals. 

 

Weelim has 20 years of human capital experience in government, technology, education and consulting industries across Australia, Asia, USA, and Europe. Her expertise includes global talent acquisition, organizational development, coaching as well as designing and implementing talent management initiatives. 

 

Weelim holds a M.A. in International Studies & Diplomacy from the University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies) and a B.A. from the National University of Singapore. 

Regina Tan

Director of Communications

Regina Tan is the Director of Communications at InterContinental Energy.  She is responsible for managing the company’s reputation through internal and external communications strategies. 

 

Regina has more than 35 years of experience spanning communications, marketing, and sales.  Previously, Regina worked at Amazon Web Services for 11 years where she developed and implemented communication strategies that had built thought leadership. 

 

Regina holds an Executive MBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo and earned her Bachelor of Science (Computer and Information Sciences) degree from the National University of Singapore. She has attained an Advanced Certificate in Sustainability and Sustainable Businesses at the Singapore Management University. 

Riana Cade

Resource Manager

Riana Cade is the Resource Manager at InterContinental Energy.  Working together with partners, she leads wind and solar resource measurement, management, studies and optimization for the company’s portfolio of projects. 

 

Riana has more than 15 years of experience in the renewable energy industry in Australia and Europe. Her expertise includes design, installation, and data management of wind monitoring campaigns for large early-stage development portfolios. She is also specialized as a Senior Wind Engineer in layout design, bankable energy yield analysis, CFD modelling for large complex sites, as well as performance auditing for operational wind farm projects.  

  

Riana attained a degree in Aerospace Engineering at RMIT University. 

Lee Knights

Senior Process Engineer

Lee Knights is the Senior Process Engineer at InterContinental Energy.  He, together with project partners, is responsible for process system planning, studies, design, and safety work scopes. 

 

Lee has over 15 years of process engineering experience.  He previously worked in the UK for Jacobs Engineering, Novartis, SABIC and Centrica Storage where his roles included process plant optimisation and greenfield project execution. More recently, Lee has participated in large scale LNG projects in Australia and worked on the Yara Pilbara’s Yuri Green Hydrogen development project.   

 

Lee holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Loughborough University, and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Chemical Engineers. 

Arati Joshi

Solar Manager

Arati Joshi is the Solar Manager at InterContinental Energy.  She, together with project partners, is responsible for solar plant and power system resource optimisation, planning, studies, and design work scopes. 

 

Arati has more than 15 years of experience in consultancy, project development, engineering procurement and construction across India, Oman, Kuwait, UAE, and Thailand.  She has published numerous research and review papers on different solar energy technologies and biodegradable composting. 

 
Arati holds a Master’s Degree in Photovoltaic and Solar Energy from University of New South Wales, Australia and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Shivaji University, India. 

Meili Fang

Accounting Manager

Meili Fang is the Accounting Manager at InterContinental Energy.   She is responsible for analyzing financial records, budget forecasting and reporting. 

 

Meili has more than 13 years of audit experience working in a public accounting firm.  She has worked on a portfolio of clients that ranged from multinational companies to subsidiaries of listed companies.  Her expertise includes consolidation of group accounts and providing advice to clients on accounting and corporate tax matters. 

 

Meili holds a BA in Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore and is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. 

Yasser Macki

Oman Manager

Yasser Macki is the Oman Manager at InterContinental Energy.  He is responsible for working with project partners at Green Energy Oman and liaison with the local government agencies, ministries, and local communities.  

 

Yasser has over 20 years of experience in project management, audit, and consultancy.  Previously, he helped led the delivery of two major airports in Oman, Muscat International and Salalah. He was also a risk management consultant for KPMG Oman. 
 
Yasser holds a B.A. in Business Administration and Management Information Systems from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. He was a Member and Treasurer of the Oman Environment Society for over ten years. 

Valentina Castellanos

Project Engineer

Valentina Castellanos is the Project Engineer at InterContinental Energy.  She, together with project partners, is responsible for process system planning, studies, design, and safety work scopes. 

 

Previously, Valentina has worked in the oil and gas industry in Colombia and has provided executive support to the local government in Western Australia.   

 

Valentina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Universidad de America (Bogotá), Colombia, and earned her Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management in Perth, Australia. 

Benny Merdi

Senior Power Systems Engineer

Benny Merdi is the Senior Power Systems Engineer at InterContinental Energy.  He, together with project partners, is responsible for electrical engineering and transmission planning, studies, design, and safety work scopes. 

 

Benny has over 30 years of experience in the power Industry and renewable energy generation.  He previously worked with Aecom and SMEC where he led experienced engineering team in large scale solar PV and hydroelectric power plants, as well as electrical transmission and distribution projects in Asia-Pacific. 

 

Benny holds a BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering, and an MSc in Electrical Power Systems from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), United Kingdom. 

Caitlin Harnwell

Executive Assistant

Caitlin Harnwell is the Executive Assistant at InterContinental Energy.  She is responsible for providing administrative support to the management and team in both the Australia office and the Western Green Energy Hub. 

 

Caitlin brings more than 10 years of experience as an executive assistant to C-suite leaders, and has coordinated community events at scale. Previously, she worked in not-for-profit organisations, the First Nations sector, and the publishing industry.  

 

Caitlin has lived and worked in regional Western Australia, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. 

Rachael Yap

Office Manager

Rachael Yap is the Singapore Office Manager and Executive Assistant at InterContinental Energy.  She is responsible for supporting the senior executives and general office functions, including event management and travel arrangements. 

 

Rachael has more than 25 years of experience in executive assistance and administrative positions.  Previously, Rachael worked at TotalEnergies for 12 years where she supported the management and project teams in travel, logistics, and event organization. 

 

Rachael received her Executive Secretarial Diploma from Advanced Training Techniques, and Human Resources Diploma from SHRI Academy in Singapore.
